Combining solid classical training with later studies in jazz and a passion for popular music, the artistic universe of Bartolomeo Barenghi is a balance between all these musical orbits.
This compendium is the characterizing element of his first record, “Prelude e Saudade” (Quadrant Records – 2011), where the guitar music of the great Latin American composers H.Villa Lobos and L. Brouwer takes new forms through the arrangements for septet that combine the camerist sound with the language of improvised music. The album was number one on the list of recommended by the prestigious Italian magazine “Musica Jazz” of the month of May 2012 and by the portal “All About Jazz”.
In 2013 he released his second album, “Apenas”, a duo with the Portuguese singer Sofia Ribeiro.
Composer, guitarist and arranger, Bartolomeo is dedicated to various projects in Spain, Italy and France, with his own themes with which he continues a personal search that involves both classical and electric guitars.
He has won important prizes, among which the First prize of the “G. Pozzato “by Varese (1996), First Prize of the International Contest” Lario in musica “by Varenna (2002) and the Prize for the best musician in the” Emergenti Live “Contest of the city of Bergamo.
He has played in renowned venues such as the Blue Note (Milan), the Bélem Cultural Center (Lisbon), the Jamboree, the Auditori del Conservatori Del Liceu and La Pedrera (Barcelona), the Sunset Jazz Club, the Cinémathèque Française (Paris) , the Notorius (Buenos Aires), and in several festivals, such as the “Lago Maggiore Jazz Festival”, “Festival d’Anéres”, “Time in Jazz – Berchidda”, “Nuoro Jazz”, “Salina Jazz Festival”,
He obtained the Superior Degree of Classical Guitar at the Conservatory “G. Verdi “of Milan (2006) and the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics for Art and Culture at the University” L. Bocconi. ” Later he settled in Paris, where he obtained the Degree of Superior Degree (DEM) in the Conservatoire National de Région of the French capital.
In 2010 he obtained the Master in Jazz at the Conservatory “G. Verdi “from Milan with the highest rating and Cum Laude.
Currently living in Barcelona, he has taught master classes in several schools and conservatories in Italy, France, Spain and Colombia. Since 2009 he has been a guitar and combo teacher at the Modern Music and Jazz Classroom of the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.
