Maria is the founder and director of the Nuestro aire company (since 2007) and the De Cobre project (since 2010). In both projects she participates as coreographer, dancer, singer and composer. Since 2011 she has been a member of the Miguel Reyes Sextet and also of Ethnómada which she founded with members of Julian Olivares Trio. In 2013 she founded the Flamenco Nuevo project with the contemporary and experimental singer Evelin Tóth.
Maria Keck graduated in modern choreography at the Hungarian Dance Academy. She also became a Master of Music Therapy at the University of Alcalá de Henares.
Maria bases her dance tuition on balance between transmitting the ’language’, the communication and the improvisation techniques of flamenco and between encouraging her students to express themselves freely and creatively.
She currently lives in Madrid where besides developing her actual project, she works as a flamenco dancer in various flamenco tablaos.
De Cobre is a musical and dance project influenced by a multiplicity of styles. Its rhythm is based on flamenco and on Romany culture. The music of the project is focused on Romany and Hungarian songs and the compositions of the director-coreographer Maria Keck. De Cobre is the union of four different worlds, four professional musicians with different cultural backgrounds: they joined and now work together to complement each other, breathing life into De Cobre.
